In addition to the 5 year attendance requirement, all coxswains and crew members must attend annual TCT review training. This year it must be completed by 31 DEC 2009.

This serves to train and qualify Auxiliary members to serve as Boat Crew members on Auxiliary vessel facilities. It is required that you have completed the Boating Skills and Seamanship program and pass a hands on examination before final qualification as a Boat Crew member. The following topics are discussed: Boat Crew Duties and Responsibilities Patrols Crew Efficiency Factors Team Coordination and Risk Management First Aid Survival Equipment and Pyrotechnics Marlinspike Seamanship Boat Characteristics Stability Boat Handling Communications Weather and Oceanography Aids to Navigation Navigation Search and Rescue Person in the Water Recovery Towing Firefighting, Rescue and Assistance Air Operations

BOAT CREW TRAINING SCHEDULE Classroom Training See Division Calendar

week for 12 weeks; Every
Saturday morning on the water training for the last 9 of those 12 weeks.

- 9:30pm; Saturdays: 9:00am-1:00pm

Martin FSO-MT (Flotilla
Staff Officer - Member Training) This serves to train and qualify Auxiliary
members to serve as a Coxswain on Auxiliary vessel facilities. It is
required that you are Boat Crew certified (the
Auxiliary Boat Crew Training program) with a minimum of 28 hours performed as
a Boat Crew member, have a 90% passing score for the Navigation Rules test, and
pass a hands on examination before final qualification as a Coxswain. The
lecture topics discussed include:
Weather, Risk Factors, and Team Coordination
Thorough Knowledge of Boat Handling and
Characteristics
U.S. Coast Guard Search and Rescue
Organization
Search and Rescue Planning
Day and Night Navigation and Piloting
Navigational Aids
Participants must demonstrate thorough
proficiency in the following hands on requirements before final qualification as
a Coxswain:
Maneuver the Boat Away From the Dock
Moor the Boat to a Dock
Maneuver Alongside Other Boats
Anchor the Boat
Operate the Boat in Following, Head, and Beam
Seas
Demonstrate Day and Night Navigation and
Piloting Skills
Execute Search and Rescue Patterns
Tow Vessels
Bring a Towed Vessel Alongside
Moor a Disabled Vessel in Tow to a Pier

Incident Command System 100 and 700 (ICS 100 and 700 is
now required for auxiliarists ( participating in operations)
ICS 100, 200, 210, 700, and 800 is now required for COXSWAINS This
program which covers the organization, command and control, administration and
logistics necessary for a functional integrated approach in managing an
emergency situation involving several agencies. This is now mandatory and open
to all Auxiliarists on a first come basis.
