Coast Guard Day was celebrated on August 3, at Brian Piccolo Park in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The 217th birthday of the Coast Guard was a relaxing one filled with activities for the more than eight hundred coasties, auxiliarists and family members who attended.
Activities included a softball tournament, won by the Falcon Shop team, volleyball, tug of war, children rides, and a helicopter tour and demonstration .
There was also music, dancing, games, rides and of course, lots of good food. Even the weather cooperated to make this a very successful event. The Child Identification tent was very popular, with over one hundred future coasties fingerprinted and photographed. Officer Snook tattoos, coloring books and environmentally awareness training was presented in a fun way by members of the Auxiliarists. This was a day of fun and fellowship.
